Federico Gutierrez, who was born in Medellin in 1975, is a former mayor of Medellin. As a councilman, he supported Sergio Fajardo’s run for mayor, and later the mayoralty of Alonso Salazar. Fico Gutierrez made it to the Mayor’s Office of Medellin, moving his focus to 2015. But, like all of the Hidroituango mayors, he faced corruption. Daniel Coronell published a report about him, claiming that he kept the money in tax havens and was implicated in corruption.
He has actually confronted the former mayors he backed and stated recently that “I am in solidarity with the people who are included in this report because I don’t believe anyone decides to make a tunnel fall and they are in solidarity, and what some sectors do, is an attack based on political strategy.”
A new race for presidency
The so-called Experience coalition, which later was renamed the Team for Colombia, was created in the month of October 2021. Federico Gutierrez was the Center-right coalition and won the election. Paola Holguin, a Democratic Center congressman, ran again for a new seat in 2022.
There were several times that he reiterated that his administration model is one of public management for the people. With the second-highest vote, behind Gustavo Petro, ‘Fico’ is what the name he prefers is the person who represents the people of the right in Antioquia.
