Fico Gutierrez won the official candidacy for center-right. With more than 1.75 million votes, the former mayor of Medellin was able to win the nomination.
Federico Gutierrez is an ex-mayor of Medellin. He was born in the city in 1974. He is a Medellin Municipal Youth Councilor since the year 2003. Gutierrez is who is a Civil Engineer by profession from the University of Medellin and holds a specialization degree in senior management at the Pontifical Bolivarian University and one in Political Science.
Federico Gutierrez did not just concentrate on politics during his professional life. In Fico Gutierrez worked as a consultant for the HGI Consultores company and a Resident Engineering at the Company Vifasa S.A. A glass and construction company. In his personal life, he defends his family, and says it is of paramount significance. He is married and has two children.
As an elected council member, he was a supporter of Sergio Fajardo’s mayoralty and then that of Alonso Salazar. He reached the Mayor’s Office of Medellin, shifting his goals in the year 2015. Like other mayors in the Hidroituango projects, he was plagued by corruption. Additionally, in an investigation published by Daniel Coronell, he was accused in the Panama papers for keeping his cash in tax havens and also for corruption.
He did meet with former mayors he backed. He has recently stated that he was united “because I don’t think anyone makes a decision so that tunnels of diversion are built and that one is in solidarity while some sectors are attacked by the political strategy”.
A new contest for the presidency

Paola was also running for a seat in the 2022 elections.
At several times the candidate has repeatedly stated that his system of government is based on public management of the masses. He also said that politics was a profession. With the second highest vote in the second place behind Gustavo Petro, ‘Fico’ according to what he prefers to be called is the person who represents the people of the right in Antioquia.
