History of Calabria University IEEE Student Branch
From an idea of Prof. Domenico Famularo, IEEE Student Branch at University of Calabria was founded in 2001 by the local engineering students association: ASI-UNICAL.
Dean of Faculty, Prof. Maria Laura Luchi, and DEIS (Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informatica e Sistemi) Head, Prof. Giuseppe Di Massa, immediately helped, economically and structurally, the association to set up the Student Branch.
So with the endorsements of Prof. Domenico Grimaldi and Prof. Daniele Menniti, and with the huge help given by Branch Counselor Prof. Pietro Muraca, it was possible to constitute the Student Branch. Below there is the list of students who signed the petition for the establishment:

For the whole 2002 the Student Branch was busy to give the basics in order to establish a stable and trustworthy branch. For 2003 the branch has two main directions to follow:
- activate a good number of fresh students, introducing IEEE Student Branch during the official faculty presentations and creating a Student Branch website
- open relationship and contacts among Student Branch - IEEE Student Representatives and other association involved in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
